My Profile

How do I fill out and edit my profile?
Complete the different areas by clicking on them and filling out the questions in each section. You must save any entry you make so that others can view it. Remember first impressions count, so fill out as much information as you can and make your `in my own words`section as interesting as possible. You can edit or change any part of your profile at any time by going back to the`My Love Brighton` section. Everything you enter in your profile determines the types of members who are matched to your profile, so make it as accurate as you can.

What should I include in my profile?
Most of your profile questions have multiple-choice answers and you must choose which answer is most accurate for you. The`in my own words` section allows you to enter free hand text to describe your personality to other members. This is one of the most popular areas of the site!

Tell other members about your interests and the type of person you are hoping to find. A lot of members will use this area to find out more about you, so make sure you are honest and you enter information that you think will be attractive to other members.

What are the guidelines for information in my profile?
Your profile tells members all about you. Lovebrighton want to allow you the freedom to talk about what is important to you but at the same time it is important that we do not allow information that may be offensive to others to be displayed publicly. Profiles are reviewed regularly and the following items are prohibited;
• Contact Information • Bad Language • Racism • Abusive or offensive material
Lovebrighton reserve the right to remove any material we feel is inappropriate or offensive to other members.

My photos

Do I need to upload a photo?
Yes, yes and yes again! We can not stress this enough. Other members use your photo to find out more about you and how you look. They also give a window into your lifestyle and personality.

How do I upload my picture?
We are only able to accept digital pictures. Your digital picture must be in JPG format and 100k or less in size and saved on your computer in order to upload it. Our site uses a square image format so try and crop your image before you upload it. You can review your photos by clicking on `my photos' and then choose to delete or add more photos to your profile. Click on the link to upload your picture. You will be directed to the next page where you will see a 'Browse' icon. From here;
• Click on Browse and locate your picture within your computer • Click on the Open button and then click 'Upload` • Crop your image using our handy tool • Click save

What can I include in my picture?
Remember that whatever you decide to upload on your profile is going to be another member's first impression of you. You could upload a head shot or a full-length picture; maybe a holiday picture or something that you feel is a good representation of your personality. Photos containing the following are not accepted;
• Children (regardless of the context of the picture) • Nudity • Celebrities • Advertising • Personal contact information • Copyright material • Suggestiveness • Car License Plates • Political pictures • Guns/weapons • Partial body shots • Any picture without a person in it (show a picture of your cat, if you must, but make sure you're in it too!). Lovebrighton reserve the right to decline any picture we feel may cause offence or be inappropriate.

I'm trying to upload my picture and it isn't accepted?
If you picture has not been accepted by the system it could be for one of several reasons.
Your picture must be less than 100k in size and in JPG format. The system will usually tell you the reason that we are unable to accept your picture however if you are unsure please contact customer services for advice. If you uploaded your picture successfully and it has not been loaded on your profile it means that it was declined by our approval team and contravened our guidelines in some way.

Paying for my membership

Can I use lovebrighton for free?
Lovebrighton offers free membership, which allows you to browse other members. If you wish to contact another member, read or respond to mail from other members, you need to become a paying member... Go on, you know you want to!

Yes please, I want to join-how do I pay?
It's easy; just click on the Cashpoint button in the my lovebrighton, make your choice from the preferred plan and follow the simple instructions.

What if I don't have a Credit or Debit card?
Plastic is fantastic as it offers instant full membership, but if you don't have a Credit or Debit card and wish to pay by cheque, please contact us here

I'm trying to pay but it won't accept my card?
Please check the following information;
*All the information has been entered correctly and that the card has not expired.
*Your card is on the list of cards that we accept
*Your card issuer supports the card security code (3 digit number on the back of your card)

You may wish to try a different card altogether or pay by cheque.

How will lovebrighton appear on my card statement?
Your membership purchase will appear on your statement as Lovebrighton.

Email

I've seen someone I like, how do I send them an email?
You must be a full member to send and read email. If you would like to join, go to the membership section in my lovebrighton and follow the instructions. On every members profile page is a button called `email me`. When you click on the button, an email opens up. Once you have finished typing your message, click the `send` button. Your email will be delivered immediately.

How do I know if I have mail?
When you have received a message from another member you will see a 'new mail' icon on at the top of your screen.  If you wish to reply, just click on the `reply` button, write your message and click `send`. You will also receive notification at the email address you registered with.

I have received a `you have mail` notification email but when I check my inbox, there is no mail? The  most likely reason is the member has deleted their profile or  Lovebrighton have removed the member from the site for spamming.

How do I delete email?
Your emails will stay in your inbox until you delete them. You can delete your emails by clicking on delete email. Once you have deleted your email, it can not be retrieved, so make sure, you're sure.

I have received an offensive or abusive email, what can I do?
Here at Lovebrighton we pride ourselves on being a safe and secure environment for all our members. If any member is offensive to you, we have a facility you can use to block that member so they can not contact you again. You may also report the member to us by clicking on the `report ` button on the member profile.

Do other members see my email address?
No, all emails are sent via our anonymous messaging facility, your personal email address in for our eyes only.

Little Black book

What is little Black Book?
My little black book is a great feature which allows you to quickly and easily communicate with your favourite members without having to search for them. When you see someone you like, you can add them to your little black book from within their profile at the click of a button.

Blocking

What are Blocks?
At lovebrighton we will not tolerate offensive behavior, so we have created a facility called blocking. You may use this service if you wish to prevent another member from seeing your profile or contacting you. Likewise, you will not be able to contact them and they will no longer be visible to you.

Can I remove a Block?
Once you have placed a block on another member it can not be removed as it is permanent. If a member receives excessive blocks, they can be removed from the site, so only use this facility if someone is truly offensive.

Lovebrighton safety tips

Lovebrighton is a great place for meeting new friends and long lasting relationships. Internet dating is a safe, fun environment, but follow our safety guidelines and keep your flirting safe;

Do not give out your phone number, last name, address or any other information that may help locate you to anyone until you can trust him or her.

People can get your phone number and address if you give them your name and tell them your area from the phone book or directory enquiries.

If you do decide to meet up:
Tell someone where you are going, who you are meeting and when you are due home. Always meet in a public place. Don't invite anyone to your home or go to his or hers until you feel you know them well enough. Take your mobile phone and make sure it is charged and has credit. If you are feeling nervous, get someone to call you at a pre-arranged time to check everything is OK and give you an alibi if you want escape. People can become anyone they want to be online, so remember: all may not be, as it seems. Your personal safety is paramount, so always make sure you use your best judgment in every situation, if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.

Cancelling your membership

How do I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership at any time, although we will be sorry to see you go. Go to my lovebrighton`and click on the `cancel membership` button. Your profile will be removed from the database.

If I cancel my membership, will I receive a refund?
As we allow users to try out the site before deciding to pay, we do not offer refunds on part used membership regardless of the term purchased or the time used.

Refunds are only given in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Lovebrighton

If I cancel my membership, can I rejoin if I want to?
If you cancel your membership, you are free to come back to us any time you choose.
